Super Belated Holiday Patchwork Mani!

I'm back again! I have pictures of my Christmas/holiday patchwork mani I did this year. I didn't want to take it off, but the tipwear was getting on my nerves! I snapped the pictures on day 3 or 4. It lasted a while! I looooove patchwork manicures! They are easy to do (which is why I do them) but tend to be time consuming because I have to wait for things to dry and it usually takes me a few hours because I don't always do them, usually 5 times a year max, and only for holidays (so I can break out the color schemes).

I did the same color scheme as I have in my previous years of doing the Christmas patchwork mani - red, white and green, with a red and green glitter topped over the white. This year I used Sally Hansen Red Carpet (amazing red glitter in a jelly base, dupe for China Glaze Ruby Pumps), Elianto Racing Green (beautiful foil green with gold glitter), Sally Hansen White On (one of the best whites I have ever used, hands down), and Sephora by OPI Good Tidings We Bling! as the glitter topper. I wish the $OPI didn't have a slightly dark base, because it muddied the white and made it less prominent than I had wanted. Click the pictures to enlarge!

And please ignore the time stamps, I was night kayaking and capsized, with my camera in my pocket to take night photos. To my surprise it survived and still works fine, but it reset itself and so the time stamp does not match the actual time, and I use the SD slot in my computer to transfer pictures so it can't correct itself :)

Hope everyone had great holidays!

Essie Bright Tights - A Neon Orange Summer!

Third post of the day, and the last! At least, until I take pictures of my current mani :)

I have for your Essie Bright Tights! It's the perfect neon orange. Like all neons, it needed white underwear, otherwise it was going to be a hot, streaky mess. I almost never wear orange but wow, this is one I'll wear all the time! I used Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear White Out for the underwear, only 2 coats of that. It's a really, really good formula white nail polish, almost on par with RBL Underwear, with the Prowide-like brush and non-streaky formula. It's about $2-3 too, which is icing on top of the cake. I used to use OPI Alpine Snow, but it just is streaky, and takes 3 opaque coats, and doesn't dry fast enough for me to put on the neon in the time frame I like (within a couple hours of applying the white).

I wasn't able to get too many pictures of Bright Tights because it was very hard to capture the true neon-ness/brightness of the color. It's so gorgeous, but definitely needs underwear to be opaque and brighter than normal. Whites always boost the brightness of a neon, so always use underwear with neons, unless it can be opaque on its own.

I love Essie's neons, they are so wonderfully bright and easy to put on (once you put on underwear, of course). They are the best ones I've used. It just sucks I couldn't wear it for more than a few days because neons, with white underwear, chips quickly, so I had to take it off after it kept chipping. No more talking, onto the pictures!

DISCLAIMER: The actual color is much more retina-searing than this!

Since I don't have my normal 30-40 pictures of my manicure (lol), I'm going to add the rest of the pictures I have of Coco that I had on my memory card.

Elegant glitter: Sally Hansen White Glitter

How are you guys doing today? I have some free time at work, and I'm staying late since I have a show in the city later, so I thought I'd give my blog a little love lol.

I love white glitter, and really any time of hex glitter that doesn't have bar glitter in it. I love custom made n/p, but a lot of them do contain bar glitter, and it automatically makes me wary. I don't really like it for some reason, unless it adds an extra oomph to the polish (I loooooved OPI Save Me) or Sassy Lacquer Uncle Sam. I don't really buy glitter with bar glitter unless it adds to the beauty and complexity of the polish. With that said, Sally Hansen White Veil was right up my alley, especially since it's so elegant looking. I love glitter, and I think elegant looking glitter is my favorite (stuff with milky bases like Nostalgic Nail Lacquer Duckie). It's white hex glitter with slightly bigger light gold hex pieces. It can definitely be worn on it's own since it's so opaque,  but I haven't tried it yet.

This is one thick coat over OPI Royal Rajah Ruby, and then I mattified it. Sorry I couldn't get un-mattified pics! It looks cooler matte anyhow ;)

You can probably achieve the same opacity in two thin coats. It was pretty easy to apply for a glitter, and went on pretty evenly too. I didn't like how "cloudy" it looks on some of my nails, a consequence of trying to drag out the glitter from one spot as it was drying.

I don't know the name of this cat, but it sure is cute! It's a neighbor's cat, a very friendly one, who is absolutely adorable! I think it may be a mix between the tiger stripe cat and siamese cat (sorry, I don't know too much about cats and the different looks). I love to play with her, and she's just so frickin' adorable! I managed to snap a pic of her when she was rolling on the ground wanting to be played with, but it was still pretty hard because she's so feisty and wouldn't stand still!

Coco spam, just to balance out all the cat pictures. She's frickin' adorable too!

First post! Sally Hansen Xtreme wear Pacific Blue

First official post! Sorry for the crappy picture - I will definitely take another one later, but all I had was my friend's Macbook camera in a dimly lit place. My camera has no cord right now because I'm away from home. Anyways, the awesome blue color you see here is called Sally Hansen Pacific Blue. It's from the Xtreme wear collection. I almost never wear blues in this shade, but this cornflower blue creme is like OMG. It's bright, pretty, and a wonderful creme that applies in two coats. I wish I could wear this forever :) This is definitely backup bottle worthy I will definitely be going back to get another bottle of this.
